Meet The Maker.
Hello, I’m Shannon, the creative mind behind Canterlily. The name Canterlily was initially created by me as a simple business name for my Etsy shop back in 2010. At that time, lilies were my favorite flower, and as a horse enthusiast, the word ‘canter’ always sounded beautiful to me. The term ‘canter’, to me, evokes images of beauty, strength, and freedom, all in the most natural/ organic way. Over the years, the name Canterlily has come to mean so much more to me. It symbolizes not only my artistic pursuits but also a piece of who I am. It reflects my interests, my passions, and occasionally my challenges and victories. Throughout the years, my artistic endeavors have not only mirrored my identity but have also been instrumental in shaping the person I have become, or at the very least, revealing parts of myself that took time for me to uncover.
My home studio nestles within my cozy homestead in the WNY countryside. Being a country girl at heart, I enjoy my garden along with my little group of hens and ducks. Although I don’t have goats and horses at the moment, I fondly recall the happiness they once brought me.
In every creative project I undertake, my affection for animals and the natural world shines through in my work. I have a particular fondness for horses, enjoy nature, kayaking, and camping. Additionally, I embrace my feminine side, with a love for jewelry, fashion, and vibrant colors!
I have a special appreciation for natural items. Whenever I have the opportunity to present or highlight a piece that reflects the charm of its natural aesthetics, be it jewelry or pottery, I certainly will.
Metalsmithing: I started crafting metal jewelry in 2012, took a break, dabbled occasionally, and fully resumed in 2023.
Pottery: During my break from metalsmithing I chose to participate in a pottery class alongside my daughters as part of our homeschooling journey, and I soon fell in love with the art of working with clay.
FAQ
SHIPPING: All of my handmade creations are crafted and shipped from Western New York. At the moment, I only offer shipping within the United States. Completed items are shipped within 5 business days using USPS Priority Mail.
RETURNS: Returns are only allowed for warranty-related concerns. If a stone comes loose or you encounter any other issues with the craftsmanship, feel free to contact me.
JEWELRY CARE:
- Keep your jewelry dry by removing it before coming into contact with water. Stones are particularly susceptible as they can absorb moisture through their pores, leading to softening over time.
- Avoid perfumes, lotions, harsh chemicals, tanning creams and moisturizing creams.
- Refrain from engaging in activities that might subject your jewelry to impact or damage.
- Cleaning – Sterling silver and fine silver tend to tarnish over time. To maintain their shine, occasionally wipe them with a simple cloth. Avoid polishing any stones set into jewelry. If you need to clean the stones, gently wipe them with a dampened, soft cloth. If soap is necessary, use a small amount of mild soap. Be sure to dry thoroughly and immediately afterward.
- Store in a dry location. An airtight container works best.
POTTERY CARE:
I exclusively use clays designed for dinnerware. Every pottery item in my shop is food-safe, dishwasher-safe, and microwave-safe. To prolong the life of each piece, handwashing is recommended.
